Many guests do the honours on the inauguration dais
Mysore/Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah achieved a remarkable feat yesterday when he inaugurated Jumboo Savari for the sixth time, setting a record.
In his previous term as CM, this Congress leader from Mysuru had the honour of inaugurating this event five times, completing a full five-year term. Now, this marks his sixth inauguration of Jumboo Savari.
Being a Mysurean, his continued participation in inaugurating this grand spectacle adds a unique connection to festivities.
In addition to the CM’s sixth-time participation, this year’s Jumboo Savari saw numerous guests showering flower petals on Goddess Chamundeshwari idol inside the Golden Howdah.
Traditionally, the ceremony involves the CM, the scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family (now Yaduveer Wadiyar), District Minister (Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa), Mayor (Shivakumar), Deputy Commissioner (Dr. K.V. Rajendra) and City Police Commissioner (Ramesh Banoth), all taking the stage to perform this ritual.
However, this year, the stage was graced by Karnataka Chief Justice (Prasanna B. Varale), Deputy CM (D.K. Shivakumar) and Kannada and Culture Minister (Shivaraj Tangadagi).
While there have been instances in the past when Chief Justices have taken part, it marks the first time that the Deputy CM and Kannada & Culture Minister have joined the stage.
