Mysuru, June 2 (RKB&BCT)- The Maharaja’s College Grounds is decked up for the ‘Kotta Maatu Ditta Sadhane,’ a mega event to be held on June 3 and 4 to showcase Congress government’s achievements in the last four years. The event will be inaugurated by CM Siddharamaiah at 11 am tomorrow.
Around 8,000 beneficiaries will be given away benefits as part of ‘Sarakari Soulabhya Vitarana Sambhrama’ at the venue. The event is being organised by Information Department and is expected to attract over 1 lakh people including party workers from eight districts falling in the Mysuru Revenue Division.
A massive pendal has been set up at the grounds and over 70,000 chairs have been placed. To the right side of the stage, over 50 stalls have been set up by the districts that come under Mysuru division — Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada and Hassan. On the left side of the stage, over 35 stalls have been set up by various departments that are showcasing the developmental schemes launched by the government. These stalls will be inaugurated by PWD and District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa today evening.
At the event tomorrow, facilities from MCC, District Administration, MUDA, Chamundeshwari Electricity Company, Women and Child Development Department, Disabled Welfare Department, Tribal Development Department and other departments will be distributed.
Over 50 tourist taxies from the Tourism Department, 30 taxies from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation, agriculture implements from the Department of Agriculture, 100 tricycles from the Mysuru City Corporation, 50 bicycles from Education Department, 50 sewing machines from Social Welfare Department and other facilities will be distributed.
The venue is throwing light on both welfare and development programmes, infrastructure changes and other issues and the event and exhibition will bring in cultural troupes from eight districts. Banners, posters and cut-outs have been erected at various stalls highlighting government schemes including Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Vidyasiri, Namma Metro, Shadi Bhagya, Krishi Bhagya, Nirmala Bhagya, Pashu Bhagya and Soura Bhagya.
The MCC has built more than 100 toilets at the venue and set up more than 25 water tanks to supply drinking water. More than 250 Policemen will man the security in and around the stage and over 1,000 Policemen drawn from various Police wings will be deployed to ensure order. Cultural tableaux from all the eight districts will reach the venue after passing through important road.
A host of dignitaries including former PM H.D. Deve Gowda, former CM and BJP State President B.S. Yeddyurappa, KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwara, Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy, Ministers U.T. Khader, M.R. Seetharam, B. Ramanath Rai, Tanveer Sait, A. Manju, Pramod Madhwaraj and M. Krishnappa have been invited along with Council Deputy Chairman Marithibbegowda, Chief Whip of Government in the Council Ivan D’Souza, Opposition Chief Whip Captain Ganesh Karnik, and the Assembly Opposition Chief Whip V. Sunil Kumar.
Playback singer Rajesh Krishnan will perform tomorrow from 7 pm to 9.30 pm and before that Sunitha Chandrakumar and Troupe of Raghuleela Music School will perform from 6 pm to 7 pm. On Sunday, playback singer Naveen Sajju will perform from 7 pm to 9 pm and before that Swaha Team will perform with percussion music.
