Sighting near Varakodu triggers panic among villagers

December 5, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Sighting a leopard behind Morarji Desai Residential School on the Chettahalli Canal Road at Varakodu recently has created panic among the villagers.

Congress leader and resident of Varuna village Varuna Mahesh was on his routine visit to his land near Varakodu in his car. As his car was nearing Chettahalli Canal Road, he noticed a leopard walking slowly across the road. “There were four people in the car and we were horrified to see the big sized leopard on our way. But we followed the leopard and clicked its photo on our mobile phones,” he said.

Again on Thursday, another resident of Varuna village Santosh spotted a leopard cub in the same place. There is about 140 acres of general forest region near Varakodu where deer and dogs are present. Leopards come in search of food to this region.
