Mysore:  Renowned playback singer of yesteryears S. Janaki, who was undergoing treatment at a city hospital for a backbone fracture, was discharged from the hospital yesterday evening.

S. Janaki was admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital about a week ago after she suffered a backbone fracture when she slipped and fell at the house of her relative here. The singer who lives in Chennai, had come to Mysuru on a private visit when the incident happened.

Speaking to press persons after being discharged from the hospital, Janaki said she is in good health and thanked everyone for showing concern.

Stating that she slipped and fell on to the floor while crossing a door frame at the house of a friend here, she said that she underwent surgery for her fractured backbone and she is recovering now.

Maintaining that she loves Mysuru very much, the renowned singer said that she would be resting in Mysuru for few more days.
