Sir M. Visvesvaraya gave opportunities to deprived through social engineering

Mysore/Mysuru: Retired Additional Secretary to the Government of India, C.V. Gopinath, said that Sir MV, who was the Dewan of Mysore, is credited with many firsts in the erstwhile Mysore Samsthana.

He was speaking at the Engineers Day celebration marking the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya at a programme organised by Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Maharani’s Government College of Education auditorium here on Friday.

Stating that Sir MV created many opportunities for the deprived through his well thought social engineering, Gopinath said that MV, who lived for more than a hundred years, was a very honest person and dedicated his entire life for the industrial and economical growth of the State.

Clay Ganesha idols were distributed among the gathering on the occasion.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal presided. Parishat Vice-President N. Anantha,  social worker K. Raghuram, College Principal T.N. Gayathri, Jeevadhara Blood Bank Director S.E. Girish, Programme Convenor and Cartoonist M.V. Nagendra Babu and others were present.
