Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy, District Health Officer (DHO), has provided reassurance regarding the dengue situation in Mysuru, stating that dengue is under control in the district. With a surge in dengue cases across the State, the DHO shared insights into the situation in Mysuru District.
He said that a total of 426 dengue cases have been recorded in the district from January until the present date. Among these cases, 70 patients were discharged from hospitals after being observed from morning till evening. All of them have successfully recovered, and there are no severe or critical cases in the district.
Dengue is primarily transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which breed in clean, stagnant water. Following this, public awareness campaigns have been launched to encourage people to prevent the accumulation of water in items such as tyres, coconut shells and other containers, he said.
Those experiencing symptoms such as fever, rashes and headaches are urged to undergo a blood test and Elisa tests are also being conducted for such patients. Various initiatives involving ASHA workers are being carried out at Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
Dr. Kumaraswamy emphasised that testing efforts are exceeding the stipulated numbers, and there is currently no cause for alarm. The District Health authorities are actively managing the situation and taking measures to ensure the health and well-being of the public in Mysuru, he added.
