Six candidates served notice to explain non-tally of poll expenditure

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar, who is also the District Electoral and Returning Officer has served notice to six candidates contesting the LS polls from Mysuru-Kodagu, to explain the mismatch  in the affidavits filed by them on poll expenditure.

The candidates who were served with notices are C.H. Vijayashankar of the Congress, Pratap Simha of the BJP, P.S. Sandhya of SUCI, Karnataka Praja Party (KPP) candidate P.K. Bidappa and independent candidates Anand Kumar and B.D. Ningappa. They have been asked to correct the mismatch and file fresh affidavits within 48 hours.

At a meeting held at the DC office and attended by poll expenditure observers on Tuesday, several discrepancies were found regarding the poll expenditure returns filed                                                                 by the contesting candidates, following which the six candidates were asked to submit correct expenditure returns within 48 hours.

Also, as BSP candidate B. Chandra and independent candidates N.K. Kaveriamma, G. Lokesh Kumar, Srinivasaiah and Ravi were absent from the poll expenditure meeting, these candidates were                                                          warned of legal action if they failed to submit expenditure returns within 48 hours.

The meeting scrutinised the expenditure returns filed by the candidates on poll campaigns from Mar.19 to Apr.1. There are 22 candidates in fray from Mysuru-Kodagu LS seat, that goes to the polls on April 18.
