Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra said that skills and language proficiency is the need of the hour for finding suitable employment and Graduates should prepare for this.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Karnataka Skill Connect -2023’ conference organised by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, in association with Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, at a private Hotel in Nazarbad here yesterday.
Stressing on the need for preparing the youth to meet the modern day job requirements, the DC said that as employers look for most suitable candidates, the job aspirants should have acquired some level of skills.
Maintaining that there is a good industrial climate in Mysuru with many industries coming up in the city, the DC said that youths need to have skills for finding employment in industries. There should be acquisition and updation of skills in keeping with the needs of the times, he added.
Noting that many people are finding it difficult to get jobs due to language problem, Dr. Rajendra said, as such, one must also possess communication skills. Stressing on the need for learning English and other languages, he said programmes like ‘Skill Connect’ will be a lot of help in this regard.
Karnataka Skill Development Corporation Executive Director Krishnakumar said that the Corporation has provided a single platform for the benefit of industrial employers and candidates. Pointing out that as many as 61,000 candidates have registered in Karnataka Skill Connect portal, he said that the Corporation has been organising skill training programmes.
Mysuru ZP Planning Director Savitha, District Skill Development officers Narayanaswamy, Sudarshan and others were present.
