Sir,
The Government of Karnataka should refrain from celebrating Dasara this year as Covid-19 is still around and especially in Mysuru district the cases have not come down to 0 percent.
Let the Royal Family celebrate the rituals inside the Palace premises as per traditions but the Mysuru District Administration should concentrate on controlling the pandemic. With great difficulty, the situation is coming back to normalcy. The Government must give more importance to people’s safety instead of going after celebrations.
I request the Government and the District Administration not to illuminate prominent roads, buildings and Circles in Mysuru city as this will attract a large number of people to come out and view the lightings. It will attract tourists from nearby places and one cannot control the curiosity of the people to witness the illumination. Also there will be a problem of social distancing, violation of COVID guidelines etc. Moreover, many people haven’t been vaccinated yet.
Of course, I respect Dasara festival wholeheartedly but the lives of people are more important than celebration of any festival. Let us hope to celebrate Dasara-2022 in a grand manner if things get back to normal.
