Slew of protests in city

  • BJP condemns murder of Bommasandra Municipal Member
  • Postal employees seek modification in 7th Central Pay Commission

The city witnessed a slew of protests by various organisations on different counts this morning.

BJP

About 60 members of City BJP Unit staged a protest at Gandhi Square here condemning the breakdown of law and order in the State coupled with anti-Dalit policies of the Government.

They pointed out that the murder of Bommasandra BJP Municipal Member Srinivasa Prasad (Vasu) recently in Bengaluru has increased the list of such killings indicating the brewing of criminal activities which is going unchecked. They sought an end to such heinous crimes which were a living testimony to breach of law and order.

Postal strike

As part of the all India one day Postal strike, called by All India Postal Employees Union (AIPEU) and National Union of Postal Employees (NUPE), about 100 Postal employees of Mysuru Division staged a protest in front of Central Post Office at Nehru Circle here. All the Postal employees of the division have abstained from work today pressing for their pending demands which include modification in 7th Central Pay Commission, revision of HRA and Pension Scheme, regularisation of contract employees and extension of benefits to Gramin Dak Sevaks.

Near DC’s office

About 50 members of ‘Abhivyakti Swathanthrakkagi Jana Sanghatane’ staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here seeking protection of Constitutional rights and curbing of communal and fundamentalist outfits.
