Socio-Economic and Educational Survey begins in city

September 22, 2025

Mysuru: The much debated Socio-Economic and Educational Survey, popularly known as Caste Census, conducted by the Karnataka Backward Classes Commission across the State began in the district this morning.

A total of 5,143 Supervisors and Enumerators are carrying out the survey at 10,12,817 residences of Mysuru district.

The Supervisors and Enumerators, who have been deployed for the survey in the district, were given a Survey Kit each on Saturday. The kit consists a self-declaration form, identity card and a bag.

The Backward Classes Commission has released a revised App to conduct the survey after incorporating certain suggestions from the State Government and the survey staff are expected to use this App only while conducting this survey.

The survey staff are required to visit every house allotted to them and gather the data using the 60-point questionnaire provided in the App about the social, educational and economic data of the residents. The staff must also submit the self-declaration form given to them by the Commission to show that they have visited all the houses that have been allotted to them.

The survey is being coordinated in Mysuru district by the District Co-ordination Committee led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, according to Committee Member-Secretary Raghavendra.
