Soldier on a holiday dies of heart attack in Hunsur

Hunsur: A soldier, who had come to his native place on holidays, has died of heart attack at his residence in Chikkakyathanahalli village in the taluk on Wednesday morning. He was to report to duty on Nov. 1.

The deceased soldier is Mahesh (32), the only son of Krishnegowda of Chikkakyathanahalli village of Gavadagere hobli in the taluk. He leaves behind his wife Vinoda, five-year-old daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Mahesh was the son-in-law of former Harave Gram Panchayat (GP) President Chandregowda.

Mahesh, who was serving in the Indian Army at Kolkata, had come to the village on Oct. 3 on holidays. He was hale and healthy and had spent some time with his friends and family members.

On Oct. 4 (Tuesday) night he finished his dinner and slept. The next day, at about 6 am, he had died in his sleep after reportedly suffering a heart attack.

Post-mortem was conducted at Hunsur General Hospital and the body was handed over to the family members.

MLA H.P. Manjunath, Tahsildar Col. Dr. Ashok, Mysore & Chamarajanagar District Co-operative Central (MCDCC) Bank President G.D. Harish Gowda, former Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Member C.T. Rajanna and others visited the house of Mahesh and consoled his family members.

Last rites were held in the village during which the District Armed Reserve Police, led by Hunsur Rural Inspector C.V. Ravi, fired three rounds in the air as a mark of respect to the deceased soldier.
