‘Somasri Award-2024’ presented

Director of Raasavrunda and Associate Professor in the Department of Archaeology at Maharaja’s College and Vid. Dr. K. Kumar, Professor and HoD of University College of Fine Arts, Mysuru, were honoured with ‘Somasri Award-2024’ by Sri Uma Maheshwara Nruthya Kalakshetra Trust, during ‘Nruthya Samarpana-2024’ organised in the name of its Founder Karnataka Kalashri Natyacharya T.N. Somashekar, at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in  Ramakrishnanagar on Jan. 6.  The event showcased the dance features of Margam, featuring an impressing solo performance ‘Durge Durge Kruthi’ by Vidu. Sharika Kaushik and ‘Rama Rama Bhajan’ by students. They were accompanied by Vid. Vinay Rajmanya from Bengaluru on vocal, Guru Vidu. Sreelakshmi Kumar on natuvanga, Vid. H.L. Shivashankar Swamy on mridanga, Vid. Rajesh on flute and Vid. H.L. Anantha Krishan on rhythm pad. Dr. Deepika Pandurangi compered. Prof. B. Jayaprakash Gowda, President of Karnataka Sangha, Mandya, presided. Dr. Manik A.V. Bengeri, a versatile Hindustan Singer, writer in four languages and art critic, was the guest of honour. Vidu. Sreelakshmi Kumar, Krishna Kumar and Koushik were present on the occasion.
