Mysore/Mysuru: With the deadline for withdrawal of candidature having ended yesterday, as many as 11 candidates have remained in the fray for the Legislative Council Polls from South Teachers Constituency that encompasses the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar.
Dr. E.C. Ningaraj Gowda who had filed his nomination as the BJP candidate and K.R. Raju, an independent candidate from Mandya withdrew their nominations on the last day yesterday. The 11 candidates in the fray are — Marithibbegowda of the Congress, K.Vivekananda of NDA (BJP-JD(S) coalition) , Nagendra Babu (KJP), Vatal Nagaraj (Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha) and Anil Kumar, Ambareesh, Nagamallesh, S.Ningaraju, K.P. Puttasiddashetty, R. Mahesh and K. Raju, all independents.
The election to 6 Legislative Council seats (3 Teachers and 3 Graduates), including the Mysore South Teachers Constituency is scheduled on June 3.
