Inspiring batting by Vaibhav Sankaran (79, 66b, 9×4, 1×6) and Rajkumar Krishnamurthy (50, 33b, 9×4) and their vital second-wicket partnership of 95-runs enabled Anna University, Chennai, to register a facile 124-run win over Mangalore University, Mangaluru and enter the pre-quarter-finals in the South Zone Inter-University Men’s Cricket Tournament 2019-20, conducted by University of Mysore (UoM) and played at the JSS-SJCE Grounds here yesterday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Anna University scored 221 for two in 25 overs, thanks to the contributions from Vaibhav Sankaran (79), Rakumar Krishnamurthy (50) and Vivek Ravichandran (56, 41b, 4×4, 2×6) and Nandakumar Mani (22 n.o.)
In reply, Mangalore University were bowled out for 97 in 21.5 overs.
Nischith N. Rao top scored with 31 runs. V. Bharat Kumar impressed with figures of 4/18. Nandakumar Mani and Dinesh Rajavel lent good support by taking two wickets each.
