South Zone Inter-University Men’s Cricket Tournament 2019-20: Sudhanwa slams century in Karnatak University’s big win

Opening batsman Sudhanwa Kulkarni slammed the first century of the Tournament (119 n.o., 71b, 18×1, 1×6) and his first wicket partnership of 196-runs with fellow opener Roshan M. Javali (83, 49b, 10×4, 2×6), helped Karnatak University, Dharwad, to register a big 169-run win over Saveetha Institute of Medical And Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, in the second round of the South Zone Inter-University Men’s Cricket Tournament 2019-20, conducted by University of Mysore (UoM) at the JSS (M) College Grounds here yesterday.

SIMATS won the toss and elected to bowl first and their bowlers were taken to task by the Karnatak University opening batsman Sudhanwa Kulkarni (119 n.o.) and Roshan M. Javali (83), which enabled their team to score 229/1 in 20 overs.

In reply, SIMATS were bowled out for 60 in 12.1 over. Arun Sadannavar (24) was the top scorer. Off-spinner Arun Sadannavar impressed with figures of 4/7.

Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore: 51 in 15.4 overs (Karthikeye Wadhwa 3/9, B.U. Shivakumar 3/9, N. Rohan 2/0) lost to PES University, Bengaluru: 55/7 in 12.3 overs (M. Maniuvannan 2/13, D. Yuvaraj 2/12, R. Madhanraj 2/16).

KL University, Guntur, AP: 163/6 in 20 overs (V.V. Chintalapati 48, Leela Anjan Pendli 25, Abdul Kareem 21, Abdul Muthallib Shaik 2/37) bt Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi: 73 in 14 overs (V. Sharanu 30, B.S. Teja 4/10, D. Rakesh 3/17).

University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad: 96/9 in 20 overs (K. Harikrishna 60, S. Jagadeesan 3/29) lost to Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore: 97/3 in 17.4 overs (J. Elam Bharamy 47 n.o., K. Ashish Ranjan 2/17).

Christ University, Bengaluru: 112/9 in 20 overs (Vignesh Va Sastry 20, Rayan Ahmed Hussain 22, S. Akhil 4/13) lost to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur: 118/7 in 17.2 overs ( N.Kranti Kiran 27, K.P. Sai Rahul 20, Ryan Ahmed Husain 4/25).

Vels University, Pallavaram: 71 in 13.3 overs (K. Stephen Angelo 23, P.C. Arun Monappa 4/6, Ashwij V. Hegde 2/7, A.N. Shreyas 2/14) lost to Mangalore University, Mangaluru: 75/7 in 18.5 overs (A. Shenbagnathan 2/14).
