Mysuru: University of Mysore women’s cricket team ended up as runners-up in the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament losing the finals against University of Madras by 8 wickets in the match held at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology in Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu yesterday.
The tournament was organised by Anna University.
Having put into bat first, University of Mysore helped by J. Deeksha 33 (36) and M. Sadhana 31(21) managed to score 128/7 in 20 overs.
Roshini Rajashekaran picked up three wickets giving away 23 runs and K.B. Vamshi scalped two wickets giving away 28 runs. Needing 129 runs to win, University of Madras scored 130 in 15.5 overs losing just two wickets.
Anurakini top scored with 59 (49) while Roshini Rajashekaran scored 34 (24) not out. Roshini Rajashekaran of University of Madras was declared as ‘Player of the Match’ and M.D. Afrah Muskan of SRM University, Madras, as ‘Player of the Tournament.’
The top four teams — University of Madras, University of Mysore, SRM University, Chennai and University of Calicut — have qualified to take part in the All India Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament to be hosted by University of Calicut later this year.
