Mysuru: Curtains fell on the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament – 2025 with University of Madras emerging as champions defeating Bangalore City University by 8 wickets in the finals played at the SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagangothri here this morning.
Having won the toss and opting to field, University of Madras was successful in restricting Bangalore City University to a paltry score of 104 for 8 in 25 overs. Subhaharini scalped three wickets giving away 8 wickets for University of Madras while Soumya Verma top scored for Bangalore City University with 38 runs.
In reply, University of Madras scored 108 for 2 in just 16.2 overs to lift the coveted South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament-2025 trophy. M.S. Aishwarya scored 42 not out while Subhaharini scored 37 runs.
Meanwhile, in the play-offs for third and fourth position, University of Calicut overcame University of Mysore by a margin of 80 runs at the match played at JSS-SJCE Grounds in Manasagangothri.
Having been put to bat, University of Calicut posted 174 for the loss of 3 wickets in 25 overs. Drisya remained 59 not out and Sayoojya scored 42 useful runs.
In reply, University of Mysore was bundled out for just 94 runs in 21.5 overs. Anushree Anilkumar picked up 4 wickets for 22 runs and Anju Ranjan scalped 3 wickets giving away just six runs. P. Saloni (34) top scored for University of Mysore.
