Souvenir and Gift Shop inaugurated at Mysuru Railway Station

Mysuru/Mysore: Mysuru being an important tourist destination attracts tens of thousands of tourists from far and wide, a big chunk using rail services. With a view to providing the visitors an opportunity to cherish the memories of their visit to the city as also to promote ‘Made in India’ products, the Railways have permitted White Artisans, a leading brand in souvenirs and gift articles to set up a kiosk in the circulating area of Train Stations.

A rail-user inaugurated the souvenir and gift shop in the circulating area of Mysuru City Railway Station on Jan. 26 in the presence of Aparna Garg, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and other senior Divisional Officers.

Known for quality and sheer workmanship, the shop sells over 400 products manufactured in metal and polyresin; the tourists are expected get their money’s worth for the genuine products they buy at affordable price. 

This is the second in the series of five shops, after the Herbal Beverages and small eats of millet, that are coming up in the circulating area of the Station. 

The Railways are expected to augment their non-fare revenue to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh per annum through these short-term contracts. Agarbathis and rosewood inlay works, both GI-tagged products, alongside popular Organic food products, unique to this region, are the other three shops to be opened shortly, according to a press release from R. Satish, Sr. Divisional Operations Manager and Sr. PRO, South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru Division.
