Special Lecture on Anti-Malarial Research held

A special lecture on Anti-Malarial Research was organised by the Department of Studies in Chemistry, Mahajana PG Centre, under the auspices of “CHEM FORUM” (a forum of P.G. Students) at the PG Centre here recently.

Dr. D. Channe Gowda, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Penn State College of Medicine, Harshey, PA, USA, delivered a lecture on the recent research made in the field of malaria, the deadly disease.

Emphasising on molecular mechanism in malaria pathogenesis and protective immunity development, he said that malaria is a complex and devastating disease, for which immunity has to be developed on which Penn State College of Medicine is working upon. He added that though the vaccine is not invented to prevent malaria, the medical science research developed the immunity mechanism for preventing malaria.

Dr. Anant N. Nayak, Professor & Head, DOS Chemistry, presided. Prof. N. M. Madegowda introduced the guest. Dr. B. Gopal Singh, Dr. Mridula Guin, Dr. R.A. Roopa and V. Mamatha were present.
