Special talk on ‘Inspiration from nature’

A special lecture on ‘Inspiration from nature: Far reaching impact of toxin research’ was held at the Department of Studies in Biotechnology, Microbiology & Biochemistry, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Society (PBMMES), Post Graduate Wing of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, in city recently.

Dr. Manjunatha Kini, Professor of Biochemistry, Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, Singapore, an accomplished biochemist and world leader in the field of toxin was the resource person.

The theme of his talk was on ‘Toxin to Therapeutics’ with main emphasis on Snake venom, which is his area of specialisation.

He gave a bird’s view about  his research findings on “Venom toxicology,” the novel finding from the venom as antidotes, diagnostics tools.

He inspired the students on concept of being open to learning new techniques and thus suggested that ‘Nature is the best inspirer for Biomemicing’.
