Mysore/Mysuru: A Spectacled Cobra snake, which had taken shelter inside a burrow between the roots of a tree at the house of one Raghavendra in J.P. Nagar, has been rescued by snake rescuer B. Shivakumar, popularly known as Snake Shivu, yesterday morning.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Shivakumar said that the Cobra was hiding inside a burrow (usually made by rodents) between the roots of a tree and was rescued in a 45 minutes operation. He further said that the snake was healthy and measured 5.75 ft which was later released into its natural habitat.
Shivakumar has requested the residents not to leave shoes, keep empty boxes and coconut shells outside houses as snakes find it warm and take shelter in them. He has also asked the public not to light fire to weeds in empty sites as snakes may enter nearby houses.
Shivakumar has asked the public not to venture near any snake unless they are familiar with venomous and non-venomous snakes and call him on Mob: 99017-21712 besides urging them to keep a watch on the snake till help arrives.

The Indian Cobra (Naja naja), also known as the Spectacled Cobra, is a member of the ‘big four’ venomous species that inflict most snakebites on humans in India.
