Mysore/Mysuru: Baandhavya 2026, a Sports Meet for differently abled children, organised by Rotary Mysore Midtown was held at Oval Grounds, opposite to Crawford Hall in city yesterday.
Over 500 differently abled children from 23 special schools in city, along with their teachers and parents, took part and engaged themselves in various sporting activities.
While children below 8 years took part in running race, musical chair and throwing the ball among other sports, children above 8 years took part in various competitions such as running, long jump, shot put and tennis ball throw.
To support and encourage these children, parents, teachers, NCC Cadets, volunteers and members of Rotary Mysore Midtown also took part in the sports which were held in five spots at Oval Grounds.
A few sports were held under the shade of trees and various counters were set up to provide juice, water and snacks to the participants. Prizes were distributed to the winning children on the spot.
Earlier, the sporting events were inaugurated by DGE Rtn. Ravishankar Dakoju, RID 3192, who was the chief guest. The children took out a march past on the occasion.
Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 winner Gilli Nata (Nataraj) also took part in the event and encouraged the children.
Zone-7 Assistant Governor Rtn. M.S. Naveen Chandra, Rotary Midtown President Rtn. K.L. Rakesh Babu, Hon. Secretary Rtn. Bhaskar Sainik, Event Chairman Rtn. H.S. Veeresh, Event Co-Chairman Rtn. Dr. P. Kumar and others were present.
