Sri Basava Bhushana awards conferred

‘Practising Basavanna’s ideals will help realise Gandhiji’s Ramarajya dream’

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that practicing the ideals of 12th Century Reformer Basavanna will greatly help in realising Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of building ‘Ramarajya,’ Social Worker K. Raghuram Vajpayee regretted that the space for progressive thoughts is getting little space in public platforms.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Sri Basava Bhushana’ award presentation programme organised by the city’s Jagajyothi Sri Basaveshwara Samskrutika Prathishtana at Namana Kalamantapa in Krishnamurthypuram here this morning.

Pointing out that Basavanna taught the principles of true Sanatana Dharma through his idealistic thoughts in the 12th Century, Raghuram said that Basavanna, apart from enlightening the people against social evils and other superstition practices, sensitised them  on the basic foundation of Hindu religion.

V. Srikantaswamy Dikshit (Religion), Dr. Sunanda Gurappa Bhoopali (Education), S.E. Girish (Medical), S.M. Shivaprakash (Entrepreneur), Dr. Nagendra Prasad (Theatre), S.
