Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, is celebrating Ganayogi Panchakshari-Puttaraja Music Festival at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Adichunchanagiri Road, Kuvempunagar, Mysuru, on Mar. 17 at 5.30 pm.
The programme starts with a grand Sarod recital by Pt. Sachin Hampemane accompanied by Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanur on tabla.
This will be followed by a grand Hindustani vocal recital by Pt. Avinash Kumar accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium and Pt. Meghashyam Keshav on tabla.
PROFILES
Sachin Hampemane comes from a family of Musicians. After being trained in tabla for about 10 years from Pt. Ramesh Dhannur, Sachin also took interest in Sarod and is under the able tutelage of legend Pt. Taranath. He is being trained in Allaudin Maihar Gharana style of sarod playing for the last 12 years and has presented Sarod recitals at various platforms.
Pt. Avinash Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Indian classical music at the University of Delhi. He has had his tutelage in Hindustani vocal music under stalwarts like Pt. Tushar Dutt (Kirana & Agra), Pt. Somanath Mardur (Kirana), Ustad Aftab Ahmed Khan (Rampur Sahaswan), Pt. Purna Chandra Chakraborty and Sadhana Chatterjee. He has performed at prestigious Music Festivals in India and abroad.
Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanur is a disciple of Pt. Puttaraja Gawai and was trained at Veereshwara Punyashrama, Gadag.
Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath is a stalwart in Hindustani music, a great vocalist and also a much sought-after Harmonium artiste. He is a disciple of Pt. Puttaraja Gawai of Veereshwara Punyashrama, Gadag and Pt. Indudhar Nirody. He has accompanied many well-known artistes of National and International repute.
Pt. Meghashyam Keshav is a Software Engineer by profession and his passion is tabla. He has received training from Pt. Vishwanath Nakod, Pt. Udayraj Karpur and from Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. An A Grade artiste of AIR, he has accompanied top ranking Hindustani musicians.
