Mysuru: As part of Sri Krishna Jayanti Music Festival, Ganabharathi has organised following programmes at Veene Seshanna Bhavan on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar here from Aug. 17 to 20:

Vidu. Tharini Nagarkar (California) will present a Hindustani vocal concert on Aug. 17 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadriah Hiremath on harmonium and Pt. Gurumurthy Vaidya on tabla. This programme is sponsored by Raasavrinda.

Tharini started learning Hindustani music from Pt. Nagaraja Rao Havaldar during her visits to India and from Dr. Sumitha Chakravarthy at the USA. After moving to India with the primary purpose of advancing her training in music, Tharini came under the tutelage of Vidu. Amrutha Deshpande, the senior most disciple of Pt. Vinayaka Torvi and additional guidance from Panditji himself. She is training in Kirana and Gwalior Gharanas. She has performed at Amerikannadotsava event at Ravindra Kalakshetra, Gururao Deshpande Sangeeth Sabha, Sri Chidambaraswamy Utsava at Dharwad etc.

She has also won several classical music competitions, including Pratibha Purskara annual event hosted by BSNL in 2012 and 2013 and most recently, Chaitradhun, a classical music competition held in California by Maharashtra Mandal of the Bay Area.

‘A day in Nandagokula,’ a special musical feature, which consists of various selected kritis on Sri Krishna, will be presented by Vidu. M.A. Jyothi on Aug. 18 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Veena Suresh (violin), Smitha Srikiran (flute), Tumkur B. Ravishankar (mridanga)and Vikram Bharadwaj (ghata).

M.A. Jyothi is the grand-daughter of H.Yoganarasimham, renowned composer of Mysuru. After her initiation to music by her mother Vidu.Neeraja Achyutha Rao, Jyothi continued her music lessons from Vidu.Sukanya Prabhakar and Vidu. Neela Ramgopal. She has also learnt violin from Vid. Lalgudi Jayaraman and has performed at various music Sabhas. ‘Devageetham’, ‘A day in Nandagokula’ are her CDs that have been released.

Vidu. Amith Nadig will present a flute recital on Aug. 19 at 6pm, accompanied by K.T. Udaykiran (violin), A. Radhesh (mridanga) and Raghunandan Vyasarao (ghata). Amith Nadig hails from a musician’s family. Acclaimed as a child prodigy, he is the son and disciple of Vid. B.K. Anantharam. Later he had his advanced training from Vid. R.K. Srikanthan. He has travelled widely to perform — USA, Germany, Italy, Malasia. He also performs along with his father. One of the youngest ‘A’ grade flautist of All India Radio, Amith has been featured in the National programme of music at a very young age of 21 and also the South Zone hook up of Doordarshan. He has ten albums to his credit.

On the concluding day, (Aug.20), senior artistes R.K. Padmanabha, K. Ramachandra, Mysore V. Subramanya and M.L. Bharathi will be felicitated at 5.30 pm, after which, Vid. R.K. Padmanabha will present a vocal concert with B.K. Raghu (violin), H.L. Shivashankaraswamy (mridanga) and Vid. S. Ramesh (morching).

An excellent musician, writer, organiser and a composer, R.K. Padmanabha is known for his mesmerising voice and rendition of RTP. His music is a blend of perfect emotive appeal, incredible virtuosity, technical mastery and divinity. He has carved a niche for himself in all the possible domains including theatre, literature, teaching, lecture demonstration and organising music festivals. He has trained thousands of students to render compositions of Trinities, Haridasas, etc. As the President of Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, he has organised music conferences in every nook and corner of Karnataka.
