Sri Lakshmi Devi Jatra held with grandeur at Rammanahalli

Mysuru/Mysore: The popular Sri Lakshmi Devi Jatra Mahotsava and Maramma Festival were held with grandeur at Rammanahalli in the taluk yesterday. The Jatra is held once in three years.

As part of the Jatra, a grand procession of the presiding deity was taken out in the main lanes of Rammanahalli. Hundreds of  people from Hanchya, Sathagalli and other neighbouring villages took part in the procession, which was accompanied by folk troupes. The procession went around Maramma Temple in the village. 

Today (Mar.15), women and children get their mouth pierced as per the tradition that is being followed for years, following which the Temple Chief Priest will be handed over ‘Karaga’ and the associated rituals will be performed.

Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda who took part in the Jatra was felicitated on the occasion. MCDCC Bank President G.D. Harish Gowda, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Member Dinesh, Rammanahalli Gram Panchayat (GP) President Nagaraj and others were present.
