Mysuru: Sri Ramanavami is being celebrated with religious fervour and traditional gaiety in city today.
Marking the occasion, special pujas, abhisheka, archane and sahasranama parayana were held at all Ramamandiras and several temples in city.
Ramamandiras in Krishnamurthypuram, at Panduranga temple premises on Kabir Road and JP Nagar E Block had organised elaborate religious rituals. They were also featured at Srirama temple near Palace North Gate, Prasanna Seetharama Mandira on Narayana Shastri Road, Shankaranarayanaswamy temple in Chamundipuram, Seetharama Trust on Manandavadi Road and Sri Shankara Jayanti Samudaya Bhavana in Saraswathipuram.
Music programmes will be held from this evening at many of the aforementioned venues featuring classical music and devotional songs to go on for a week or more.
Many organisations had erected shamianas at several junctions in city distributing ‘panaka’ (juice) and ‘majjige’ (buttermilk) which were most welcomed by the people to quench their thirst in scorching summer heat.
