Mysore/Mysuru: Marking 105th Jayanti celebrations of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, Mysuru Sharana Mandali had organised Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Seva Award presentation ceremony at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city on Tuesday.
MLC A.H. Vishwanath conferred awards on editor of Suttur Sri Shivarathreeshwara Panchanga Siddhanti K.G. Puttahonnaiah, recipient of Rashtrapathi Seva Award ASP Arun Nagegowda, District President of Government Employees Association H.K. Ramu and President of Mysuru District Journalists Association C.K. Mahendra.
Speaking after conferring awards, Vishwanath lauded the efforts of Suttur Swamiji for his endeavour and tireless efforts towards betterment of the society by providing food, education and health care to thousands of people in the region.
Fondly remembering his college days in JSS institution, he stated that, five decades ago itself, JSS colleges had a separate Department for Kannada and Culture because of which he later became a Minister of Kannada and Culture.
Former MLA Vasu presided over the programme. Retired Professor D.S. Sadashivamurthy, President of Mysuru Sharana Mandali Muguru Nanjundaswamy, General Secretary M. Chandrashekhar and others were present.
