Sri Srikanteshwaraswamy Temple earns Rs. 2.49 crore

Nanjangud: The number of devotees visiting Sri Srikanteshwaraswamy Temple in Nanjangud taluk is gradually increasing and this has been reflected in the hundi collection.

The collection as on Friday after counting is Rs. 2,49,07052, 220 gram gold, 6.5 kg silver and 111 foreign currencies. There are about 22 hundis in the temple. During the counting, 12 notes of the banned Rs. 1,000 denomination and 58 banned notes of Rs. 500 denomination worth Rs. 41,000 were found.

During the counting taken up in February last, a total of Rs. 28,000 of Rs. 500 banned notes were found.

Temple EO Ravindra  informed that more than Rs. 41 lakh was collected during this year’s jatra compared to last year. Members of Women Self Help Group (Stree Shakthi Swasahaya Sangha) took part in the counting of hundis.

Temple EO Ravindra, AEO Venkatesh Prasad and others were present during the counting.
