Mysuru: On the occasion of ‘Nartana Namana’ at 6 pm on Feb. 26, Ganabharathi, in association with Vidu. Nandini Eswer’s Raasavrunda, in memory of Smt. Saraswathamma, Dr. R. Radha and Vidu. A.S. Padma, will present Sringara Sahitya-Pada-Javali at its pemises in Kuvempunagar.
Conceptualisation and direction is by Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar and she will be assisted by her disciples, Vidu. Akshatha and Vidu. Sabhyata.
This will be followed by Padam-Javali: Tulanatmaka Prayoga by the artistes of Raasavrunda. Dance direction is by Vidu. Nandini Eswer. The performing artistes are Dr. Rohitha Eswer, Vidu. M.S. Nityashree and Vidu. Chinmayee Bharadwaj.
About the artiste: Hailing from an artiste’s family, Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar is a multifaceted artiste of different stature. She is the daughter of freedom fighter and National awardee H.K. Subba Rao and Lakshmamma Subba Rao. A student of her mother in Karnatak Music, Sukanya has been conferred Doctorate by the University of Mysore for her thesis on the contributions of Sri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar. Through Surabhi Gana Kalamandira, she has been imparting music to many students.
Dr. Sukanya is an AIR and Doordarshan ‘A’ grade artiste. To her credit she has released many recordings and is a recipient of Rajyotsava Award by Govt. of Karnataka, Karnataka Kalashree Award from the Madras Music Academy, Ganakalashree Award, Sangita Kala Ratna from Gayana Samaja, Bengaluru.
