State Conclave-2024 of CREDAI Karnataka held: MLA Tanveer Sait laments lack of basic amenities in Layouts

June 26, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: A two-day State Conclave-2024 of the Karnataka Chapter of CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India) was held at a private resort in the city outskirts on June 24 and 25.

NR MLA Tanveer Sait, who spoke after inaugurating the Conclave on Monday, said that though Layouts are being developed at a fast pace, they are lacking in civic amenities and basic infrastructure, which the Real Estate developers should look into on a priority.

He pointed out that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented a proposal on Premium Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in the Budget, which focuses on post-construction maintenance of buildings and on solving some of the problems faced by the occupants as well as the general public. The Plan of action for the premium FAR is being worked out and will be implemented soon, he added.

Pointing out that there is a Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) in Mysuru, Sait said that there is a need for a debate if such plans are required for a city.

“Humans are exploiting nature for their greed. Encroachment of forest and green spaces for money, fame and luxury is a prelude to natural disasters in future,” he said adding that development should not create new problems.

Observing that most of the civic problems arise due to inadequate sources of water, improper underground drainage system and lack of vehicle parking space, the MLA opined that if these aspects are given importance and rules followed, then the occupants and also the people in the surrounding areas can live in peace.

KR MLA T.S. Srivatsa, in his address, said that most of the occupants of flats and apartments end up paying double the stipulated tax to Civic Bodies as the builders violate the norms, attracting fine for diversions from the approved plan.
