Bengaluru: The State Government on Thursday issued an official order effecting a 30 percent wage hike for Government Employees.
The wage hike will come into retrospective effect from July 1, 2017. The hike is also applicable to pensioners, teachers of aided educational institutions, employees of local bodies and non-teaching staff of Universities.
The wage hike, which is as per the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission, will burden the State Government of Rs. 10,500 crore every year. With polls round the corner, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah is said to have signed the order without waiting for Cabinet approval. However, the CM will take post approval at the Cabinet meeting to take place on Saturday, it is learnt.
