State Govt. hikes seats by 10% in First Grade Colleges

Mysuru: The State Government on Saturday announced a hike of 10 percent in admission to Government First Grade Colleges coming under the Department of Collegiate Education. Following the Government’s decision, the Director of Collegiate Education has reportedly issued a circular directing Government First Grade Colleges to issue application forms free of cost to students from the date of announcement of second PU results.

The Director has also instructed to prominently display the courses available in the College, details of combination, fee structure and the facilities available at the College in the College website and office notice board.

The Director has also asked the Colleges to provide information to admission-seeking students, on the scholarships available, fee concession for girl students and job fairs.

The College Principal and faculty should put extra efforts to lure students towards Government Colleges by visiting PUC Colleges and meeting students and their parents.

Asking the Principals of Colleges whose admission was less than 200 in the last academic year to take all measures needed to boost admission, the Director has said that Principals have been advised to start job-oriented courses in order to enhance admission.

The Department has asked the faculty who want to travel abroad for conferences, seminars, workshops and other academic issues to get permission from the Department at least one month before departure.

While doing so the faculty will have to submit a self-declaration that they would not quit job after going abroad and do not extend leave, it is learnt.
