Mysuru: Vidyavardhaka First Grade College in association with Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage has organised a two-day State-level Conference on the topic “Irrigational Projects during the Mysore Wadiyar Regime” on Mar.16 and 17 at the college premises on Seshadri Iyer Road.
MLA Vasu will inaugurate the conference on Mar.16 at 9.30 am at the College auditorium. VV Sangha Honorary President Gundappa Gowda will preside. The keynote address will be delivered by Karnataka State Open University History Department Professor (Retd.) Dr. N. Susheela Urs.
Archaeology, Museum and Heritage Department Commissioner Dr. T. Venkatesh will be the chief guest. VV Sangha Honorary Secretary P. Vishwanath, Honorary Treasurer S. N. Lakshminarayana and Principal Dr. S. Mari Gowda will be present.
The conference aims to create awareness among the youth about the vital contributions of the Mysore Wadiyars in the field of irrigation.
History experts, academicians, faculties from various UG, PG Centres, Research Scholars and students will be participating in the conference.
The discourse and discussions will be held on following sub-topics: Contribution of incipient, Mysore Wadiyars to the Irrigation projects, Irrigation projects during Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar rule, Irrigation system during the 10th Chamaraja Wadiyar regime, Contribution of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar for the development of the irrigation projects of Mysore Kingdom and Irrigational developments during Jayachamaraja Wadiyar regime.
Department Deputy Director (Heritage) Nirmala Matapathi will deliver the valedictory address on Mar.17 at 4 pm, according to a press release from the College Principal.
