State-level Open Chess Tournament from June 23

Mysuru: The Mysuru District Chess Association (MDCA), under the aegis of United Karnataka Chess Association, will be conducting the ‘Karnataka State-Level Open Rapid Chess Tournament’ at the University of Mysore (UoM) Gymnasium Hall on  June 23 and 24.

The opening ceremony of the tournament will be held at 9.30 am on June 23 during which In-charge Director of the UoM Physical Education Department Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Vice-President of Urs Kars, Mysuru, Chengappa, Trustee of Sapient PU College, Mysuru, C. Daljit Ram, President of MDCA N. Sudarshan and Chairman of PCA, Mysuru, C.K. Muralidharan will be the guests of honour.

The tournament will be held under U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 categories for both boys and girls and trophy and certificates will be given to top five players in each category.

Cash prize, trophy and certificate will also be given to the Best Veteran Player and two youngest players will be awarded Best Youngest Player trophy and certificate.

Eligibility: Only Karnataka State and resident players are eligible to participate. Participants should submit a valid certificate as age proof which is mandatory.

Last date for registration is June 19 and with late fee of Rs.500 is June 22. Spot entries are accepted till 8.30 am on June 23. Entries should be sent by logging on to www.mysoredca.com

The valedictory of the two-day Chess Tournament will be held on June 24 at the UoM Gymnasium Hall.

Retired Director of UoM Physical Education Department Dr. C. Krishna, Srinivas of V2 Soft, Mysuru, UoM Senate Member H. Ramesh and Hon. Secretary of United Karnataka Chess Association Aravinda Shastry will be the guests of honour. MDCA President N. Sudarshan and MDCA Hon. Secretary K.R. Shivarame Gowda will be present.
