Bengaluru: The State Election Commission, has allowed Corona positive patients to exercise their franchise through postal ballot in by-elections to Sira Assembly seat in Tumakuru district and Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly Constituency to be held on Nov. 3.
According to information available, voters of over 80 years, physically challenged and those undergoing treatment for COVID-19, are permitted to opt for postal ballot. To avail this, they need to collect certificate from Health Department officials, fill up Form No. 12 D, submit it to the poll officials who will personally visit the applicants to certify whether they are eligible to cast vote through postal ballot.
On the day of polling, officials will distribute postal ballot papers to those voters and collect the same within the prescribed time.
The poll officials must ensure that voters wear face masks, sanitise their hands and maintain safe distance at all polling stations in the two Constituencies on the polling day.
Officers on poll duty must also wear masks and hand gloves inside the polling stations, the release said.
