Mysuru: Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSCW) Chairperson Dr. Nagalakshmi Choudhary visited KSRTC Sub-urban bus stand on Mother Teresa Road in the city recently and received grievances from women passengers.
Choudhary accompanied by KSRTC officers, inspected facilities provided for women passengers like – seating area, Child Feeding Centre, potable drinking water and toilet.
She also interacted with women passengers and enquired with them about the availability of seats in buses and the benefits of Shakti scheme, under which women passengers are provided free service across the State. Meanwhile, the elderly passengers complained about how Shakti scheme has inconvenienced them without seats, forcing them to travel by standing throughout the journey.
After going around the bus stand, Dr. Choudhary instructed the KSRTC officers to maintain cleanliness of toilet, information centre and make arrangements for pure drinking water.
