Stinking garbage bins inside Park near Lalitha Mahal Arch Gate

May 23, 2023

Sir,

I am a regular morning walker at a park adjacent to the Arch Gate on Lalitha Mahal Road.

It is a regular feature that the two garbage bins kept inside the park are always filled with garbage to the brim and spilled around the bins. One of the bins is broken and rusted. As a result the foul smell always greets the morning walkers.

Also, there are many food stalls on one side of the park, facing the Lalitha Mahal main road, which open in the evening.

It seems many food lovers enter the park and throw away the paper plates, bottles, plastic waste and left over food etc., inside the park. So, there is garbage spilled around the entire park.

Street dogs wander inside the park in search of food. On one side of the park facing main entrance, the MCC employees gather in the morning with the garbage tempos and go about for their duties.

Unable to bear the stink, I requested one of employees who was picking garbage on the side of the food stalls, to clean these bins too. He said that it is the duty of the park contractor.

When I telephoned to the MCC helpline the gentleman who answered the call, found fault with me for not bringing it to their notice immediately. He then asked me to give the address of the park. He was not convinced when I explained the location, but insisted on address.

I wish to suggest to the MCC authorities to display the contact number of the park contractors on all sides of the compound on the railings, so that we may contact them directly.
