Stoic silence at Pejawar Mutt Hostel

Mysuru: As soon as the death of Pejawar Mutt Seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji was announced yesterday morning, the Pejawar Mutt hostel in the city slipped into stoic silence, with tears rolling down the eyes of the inmates.

The hostel is located near Vittala Dhama close to Gobbalimara in J.P.Nagar and more than 50 students are staying at this hostel. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji used to visit the hostel everytime he came to Mysuru and bless the students. The hostel provides shelter to students from all categories.

The hostel has 48 rooms, a prayer hall, a Library and a kitchen. Students from fifth standard to degree course are staying at this hostel. This apart, the hostel also provides shelter to KAS and IAS aspirants.

Apart from local students, the hostel admits students from all parts of Karnataka and also from far away States such as Meghalaya and Jharkhand. The hostel is headed by Pejawar Mutt Seer, with the city’s Vijaya Vittala School Secretary R. Vasudev Bhat as Treasurer, Suresh as Secretary and Puttappa as the Manager.

Moments after the Swamiji’s death, all activities in the hostel came to a grinding halt, with the inmates offering prayers and expressing their heartfelt condolences to the departed Seer.
