Stone quarrying case: RTI activist lodges complaint against CM

Mandya: An RTI activist has filed a private complaint against Chief Minister Siddharamaiah accusing him of pressurising officers to issue licences to stone quarry units in Bebi Hill Amrit Mahal Kaval Reserve Forest area in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district.

RTI activist K.R. Ravindra, who has been involved in a legal battle against illegal stone quarrying in the reserve forest area, filed the private complaint against CM Siddharamaiah and seven others at the special Lokayukta Court in Mandya. Ravindra alleged that Siddharamaiah pressurised senior officers of the Mines and Geology, PWD and Forest Departments to lease out stone mining areas to owners of stone crushing units, including Mandya JD(S) MP C.S. Puttaraju, his wife Nagamma, nephews C. Shivakumar and C. Ashok and Mysuru Corporator B.M. Nataraj.
