Mysuru: Urban Development and District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has instructed the officials to stop the ongoing road white-topping works in city during Dasara to avoid traffic snarls.
Presiding over the meeting of district-level officers at D. Devaraj Urs meeting hall in Zilla Panchayat premises here on Wednesday, Dr. Yathindra said that white topping works taken up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), near Manipal Hospital Junction and the other road works taken up by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) be suspended during Dasara celebrations, to make way for smooth movement of traffic. The works can be resumed later, he suggested.
The District Minister also informed the officials to complete road development works within the stipulated deadline, as any further extension was not viable.
Highlighting that Mysuru-T. Narasipur Road was being developed unscientifically, he urged the NHAI authorities to address the issue to avoid accidents.
Speaking about the drought situation in the State, Dr. Yathindra instructed the officials to look into complaints over shortage of drinking water in the district.
“The officials have to ensure uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water and also initiate measures to ably handle the drought situation,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, SP Mallikarjun Baladandi and other officials were present.
