Mysuru: The menace of stray animals, especially cattle, has returned to hit the smooth traffic movement in the heart of the city.
It has become the order of the day, for a herd of stray cows to occupy the centre of Subhash Chandra Bose junction in front of Old RMC on New Sayyaji Rao Road. At times, there would be around 15 to 17 cows including calves, resting in the middle of the road and some standing around, forcing motorists to dodge, as and when the signal light turns green.
With no option left, the vehicle riders and car drivers move cautiously, as the junction connects five roads — one road winding straight towards Government Ayurveda Hospital Circle, another towards J.K. Grounds, followed by the road adjacent to The Muslim Cooperative Bank Ltd. and another towards Tilaknagar, parallel to the main road.
It is not just the case of Subhash Chandra Bose Circle, but also about other prominent Circles in the city like that of Highway Circle, Medar Block, N. Madhav Rao Circle at Agrahara, Devaraja Mohalla, Vontikoppal among others to name a few.
As and when the new Commissioner takes charge of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), it has become a perfunctory job to warn of taking a stringent action against cattle-rearers for letting their cattle loose leading to the menace, but the warning remains on paper, with lack of will to execute the order.
