Sir,
The menace of stray dogs is not limited to Mysuru. It is a major public hazard and nuisance.
This situation has been created by people who think they are being kind and generous to stray dogs by throwing leftovers at street corners.
Add to this, dog lovers who shy away from keeping them as pets but have no qualms about feeding them pet food daily.
It is lamentable to see educated citizens displaying no civic sense. You see them all over the city. The authorities need to take strict action to address this issue seriously. Proactively involving the public by encouraging them to upload photographs with live location details of such behaviour may be a way forward.
Penalise the culprits. Sharing a portion of the fine with the person who uploads the evidence might act as an incentive to catch offenders red-handed. It will also add to the MCC coffers, which can, in turn, be utilised to fund vaccination and sterilisation programmes.
Let us join hands to make public spaces safe for all.
