Stray dog menace: MCC clarifies

Mysore/Mysuru: In response to the  publication of the letter titled “Stray dog menace in residential areas” in SOM dated Dec. 13, the MCC Veterinary Officer has clarified as follows:

Mysuru City Corporation is conducting Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme to control dog menace in city. A Squad has been constituted to capture and release the dogs after sterilisation. This programme has been outsourced to ROTA, an NGO situated at Roopanagar, Mysuru. As per the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules 2001, one is not supposed to kill or relocate the dogs. Hence, the Corporation has adopted ABC programme to control dog menace, which is existing throughout the country.”

For dog menace, public may register complaint in MCC Control Room by calling Ph: 0821-2418800 or 2440890, he said.
