Stray thoughts on C&D waste treatment plant in city

Sir,

This refers to the news item titled “Ground works begin for C&D waste treatment plant  in city” (SOM dated Jan. 3). At last, MP Pratap Simha has taken a strong and bold step to resolve the major problem of Mysuru city by taking up a project for C&D waste treatment plant.

I also came to know through media that Mysuru City Corporation has approved this project in its last meeting. Hitherto, the debris of construction materials were being thrown haphazardly across the city, all along the Highways, Ring Roads and also in artillery roads.

It is really a nuisance for the public and has great impact on environment. Lot of dust arises from this debris causing air pollution and also gives ugly look to the city. This C&D waste disposal is a big problem in the major cities including Mysuru. This is because the local bodies have failed to identify and notify to the public the vacant land to dump waste debris since beginning. Though this problem was discussed many a times in the meeting of MCC, no one had taken this subject seriously as our present MP.

I congratulate the MP, MLAs and Corporators for this great contribution to city. I hope the project would be completed as desired without any hurdle.

Now, it is also right time to have another solid waste treatment plant in the other part of the city to reduce the work                                                            load of present plant which is inefficient to treat the huge quantity of solid waste generated every day.
