Street lights needed along Kukkarahalli walking path

Sir,

I am a resident of Bogadi, and my wife and I are regular walkers. Our routine includes a walk either in the morning or evening, ensuring we cover at least 5 km daily to maintain physical and mental fitness. Typically, we take our walk in the evening after completing the day’s work.

This evening, as usual, we set out for our walk but started later than usual. We decided to take a longer walk alongside the peaceful shores of Kukkarahalli Lake. It was 5.45 pm, and being winter, darkness set in early. By the time we reached the midpoint of the walking path, it was 6.15 pm and the surroundings were noticeably darker.

To our surprise, we observed numerous enthusiastic walkers, both middle-aged and young, continuing their routine without any fear or anxiety. Girls/ women, dressed in their walking attire, walked confidently despite the darkness, as did boys/ men.

I couldn’t help but admire the courage of these women, particularly as they walked in an environment that could induce fear due to dim lighting, mosquitoes, and overcast skies.

Given the reports of unruly incidents in various places, it struck me how much safer and more reassuring it would be if the path around the lake were equipped with street-lights, ideally a combination of solar and electrical lighting.

Adequate lighting would enhance the confidence of all walkers  alike  and allow them to enjoy their evening exercise with greater peace of mind.

I appeal to the authorities through your platform to consider installing street lights around Kukkarahalli Lake. Such an investment in public infrastructure would be meaningful, promoting safety and encouraging more people to engage in healthy outdoor activities.
