Street play staged, Girish Kasaravalli inaugurates Film Festival

Film-maker Girish Kasaravalli inaugurating the Bahuroopi Film Festival as Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman Sunil Puranik look on.

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Gandhi Patha’ is the theme for this year’s Bahuroopi Theatre Festival. On this occasion, Desi Ranga of Mysuru staged a street play at City Railway Station this morning at 11 am. Janapadotsava Convenor Geetha Montadka inaugurated the play. As part of the theatre festival, Desi Ranga, Hejje Gejje and Ranga Sangama theatre troupes will be staging street plays in different areas across the city every day till Feb. 19. 

Film Festival inaugurated

Internationally renowned film-maker Girish Kasaravalli inaugurated the Film Festival at Bhoomigeeta in Rangayana premises being held as part of the ongoing Bahuroopi Theatre Festival-2020. Speaking after inaugurating the Film Festival, Girish Kasaravalli said, “Today’s generation lacks ethics. This Bahuroopi theatre festival is a convergence of allegory (bahuroopaka) to the challenges of our life.” Film Critic Vidyashankar and Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa also addressed the gathering.

Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Film Festival Convenor K. Manu, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman Sunil Puranik, Rangayana artistes Hulugappa Kattimani and others were    present.
