Student donates Rs.5,000 cash prize won in Pratibha Puraskar towards Relief Fund

Mysore/Mysuru: It is commendable that many students are coming forward to donate whatever they have saved towards COVID-19 Relief Funds. Similarly, M. Sahana, a student of JSS Speech and Hearing Institute and a resident of Kuvempunagar, has donated Rs.5,000, the cash prize she had won in Pratibha Puraskar previous year.

Daughter of BJP Mahila Morcha leader Lakshmidevi, Sahana met District Minister S.T. Somashekar, who had arrived in city to attend a meeting with the Co-operation Department officials at the Government Guest House on Saturday and handed over the cheque for Rs.5,000 that she was awarded for scoring highest marks in Kannada in the SSLC exam last year.

Speaking to media on the occasion, Sahana said: “Many were in distress due to Corona outbreak. The Government is taking up various programmes to provide treatment to COVID-19 patients and also provide help to needy people. To make sure that there is no shortage of resources for the same, I have given the prize money towards CM Fund as they say ‘Tiny drops of water make the mighty ocean.’ Many, from students to senior citizens, are coming forward to donate whatever is possible. Similarly, I am also happily donating whatever I had. Financially well off people should come forward and donate more to help the needy.”

Mysuru Milk Union (MyMUL) Director S.C. Ashok, former Taluk Panchayat President L.R. Mahadevaswamy, Lakshmidevi of Mahila Morcha and others were present on the occasion.
