Mysuru: Volunteers of the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), Gangothri Unit, participated in a two-day Environmental Study Camp about the forest wealth, conservation of environment and animals, at Mangala Village in Bandipur Forest recently.
The camp was organised by the Wildlife Conservation Foundation (WCF) in which 25 students participated. WCF Chief D. Rajkumar, Resource Person Nagendra Prasad and others highlighted the importance of wild animals in the forest and how our lives are linked to forest.
Bird-watchers Chetan, Madesh, Manu and Mahesh spoke about bird-watching, the importance of protecting them and the contribution of birds to agriculture activities. Information was also provided about nature walk, basic outdoor survival techniques, tent pitching and first-aid. A power-point presentation was also made about the wild animals and their protection and conservation.
The students were led by Satish and Rani.
